After building a buzz with cameo appearances, Queens-bred Nicki Minaj brought her voice, verbal tenacity, and alter egos out to play on her debut (along with A-list guests Eminem, Rihanna, Kanye West, will.i.am, and Drake).
Congrats to Nicki for getting such an accomplishment! “Super Bass” is also the 10th best-selling song on iTunes of the year.
Nicki Minaj kicked off her 29th birthday on the video set for Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Love,” and if that collaboration isn’t enough indication of the monster year she’s had, then factor in the kiss and personal birthday song Madge threw in.
Minaj released her debut album Pink Friday in November 2010, but her popularity hit fever pitch this year, which is why MTV has named the Young Money rapper the #2 in MTV’s Artists of 2011 list, second only to Katy Perry.
On Wednesday, Mattel will make a one-of-a-kind Nicki Minaj Barbie doll available for auction at CharityBuzz.com, to be showcased at Divine Design’s five-day event and gala at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Bids will be received through Dec. 19 and will start at $1,000. Previous celebrities who’ve had a one-of-a-kind Barbie auctioned off at the event include Carol Channing, Rachel Zoe and Janet Jackson. All proceeds will benefit Project Angel Food, which provides food for men, women and children affected by HIV and AIDS.
Rap and Pop superstar Nicki Minaj will join the musical lineup on THE VICTORIA’S SECRET FASHION SHOW, Tuesday, Nov. 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. She joins previously announced artists Kanye West and Maroon 5. Cee Lo Green, previously scheduled, is unable to appear. The show will be taped this Wednesday, November 9.
It’s not like Nicki Minaj fans need any extra reasons to plan a trip to Las Vegas but her many recent appearances in Vegas mean that it’s easier than ever to enjoy a great gambling getaway as well as seeing her in concert or at clubs around town. Nightlife in Vegas is always booming and many stars like Minaj are frequent visitors to Sin City, whether to host parties in some of Vegas’ many clubs or to play in concerts and festivals around time.
As far as recent Nicki Minaj sightings in Vegas, she was part of the huge iHeartRadio music festival held in September, where she performed on the second day. Decked out in a purple skirt and pink chicken wing necklace, she performed a full set of her Pink Friday hits, plus featured verses including her rap from Birdman’s newest single “Y.U. Mad.” She’s also played several dates throughout the year in Vegas (including at Electric Daisy Carnival festival in June), and hosted her last birthday extravaganza last December at Tao night club.
